The State Personnel Classification and Compensation unit provides administrative, analytical, and advisory services related to the State of Nebraska Classification and Compensation Program.

Responsibility

The unit is responsible for designing and maintaining an efficient and equitable process to group job duties and responsibilities into various job classes. Job classes provide the basis for recruitment, compensation, and other management decisions. The unit works as a partner with various state agencies in conducting classification studies.

Classification and Compensation is responsible for developing new compensation initiatives and working with the Administrative Services Employee Relations Division on salary surveys and wage administration.

The unit is responsible for answering inquiries concerning the Fair Labor Standards Act, Classified System Personnel Rules and Regulations, and providing advisory services to state agencies concerning classification and compensation issues and developing new initiatives.
