Subject: Changes to Travel Expense Policies – LB 533 Impact

LB 533 has been signed by the Governor.  State Accounting has now revised its State Accounting Manual to include the revisions that were required by the bill and communicated to all agencies last Friday.  The sections of the Accounting Manual that have changed are Travel Expense Policies 5, 6 and 8.  Please review these three sections carefully as they are effective today, May 27, 2009.   Agencies will need to update their written policies and communicate these changes to all employees. 

The following  summarizes the  changes:

(1) Meal receipts will be required for all food/meal expenses equal to or greater than $5.00.   

(2) Expenses will need to be submitted 60 days from the date of the expense (or from the last day of a trip).
