Colleen Byelick was appointed Chief Deputy Secretary of State on November 3, 2015 and has served as the General Counsel for the Secretary of State’s Office since 2010 after having served as Assistant General Counsel and Licensing Director since 2006. A Lincoln native, Ms. Byelick received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and earned a law degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Ms. Byelick provides legal counsel to all divisions of the Secretary of State’s Office and assists Secretary of State Gale with management, oversight, legislation, and operations issues related to all divisions of the Secretary of State’s Office.
