The mission of the State of Nebraska ADA Task Force is to coordinate the efforts of state agencies, boards and commissions to comply with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)?
The ADA is a law that makes it illegal to discriminate against people because of their disabilities. The ADA applies to employment, housing, public accommodations, education, transportation, communication, recreation, institutionalization, health services, voting, and access to public services.
What is Title II of the ADA?
Title II of the ADA protects people with disabilities from discrimination on the basis of disability in all services provided by State and local governments. This means that any services provided by the State of Nebraska cannot discriminate against you if you have a disability. The State must provide the citizens of Nebraska with disabilities an equal opportunity to benefit from all of their programs, services and activities.
